Snow Leopard on Hackintosh (Second Method) - An excellent guide to installing Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" from Bassheadtech. The same blogger also offers an older step-by-step guide to upgrading a Hackintosh to Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" from Mac OS X 10.5.8 "Leopard". Bassheadtech likewise covers upgrading a Hackintosh to Mac OS X 10.6.3, 10.6.4, 10.6.5, 10.6.6, 10.6.7 and 10.6.8.

Install Method:iAtkos 10.5.7 + Chameleon 2.0 RC2 r 640, then Apple registration, do not reboot yet, then repair permissions, then reboot, then 10.5.8 update from HAL. First 20 tries: I could not make it work. Secret=Fully read Iatkos welcome screen. Secret=if unsure, leave the install package unselected, fail, read the logs & try again. Tried Netkass latest cutie booty, and funny "bag of hurt" says I have to upgrade my firmware. (Netkas is the best). Note: For some reason, If during registration the user creates no password, everything fails. I could not find any InsanelyMac references to this issue. If you transfer settings it fails. Do not Time Machine or fails.
After 10.5.8 upgradeMSI Nvidia N9500GT-MD1G-OC will be: Chipset Model:nVidia GeForce 9500 GT/Bus:PCIe /PCIe Lane Width:x16/VRAM (Total):1024 MB/Vendor:NVIDIA (0x10de)/Device ID:0x0640/Revision ID:0x00a1/ROM Revision:0x/Resolution: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz/Depth:32-Bit Color/Core Image:Hardware Accelerated/Quartz Extreme:Supported/HDMI=1280X720 0r 1080i (the three outputs are simultaneously active, nvidia no green). HDMI:1280X720 looks soft. HDMI:1080i looks like crap (looks good in Windoze though)/DVI and VGA look awesome.
iDeneb v1.6 (10.5.8) works OOB. Take DSDT.aml from here. Take GMA 950 with resolution changes and sleepEnabler.kext extracted from 10.5.8_Thireus_Fixes_3.4.zip found here, also enable voodooUSBEHCI for USB subsystem and add PCIID 8086:27b8 to AppleLPC to let system go deep sleep (S3 mode) well. Sound require VoodooHDA.
This is a hardware compatibility list for portable computers. We want to keep it as accurate as possible, but please, do not entirely rely on this list when buying a portable computer. Don't forget to add how you got OSx86 running on your portable x86 computer, and to use proper English. Please see the discussion page for proper instructions on how to input your system specs. Also, please contribute to the HCL 10.5.8 page, which should list a more granular view of compatibility. If your computer isn't listed, you should try it if you have a SSE2 or higher processor. Use vanilla kernel if it is supported.
Install Method: iPC (10.5.6) with Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernal, PCGenRTL8139, legacyAppleIntelPIIXATA, ac97 audio, acpi fix, cpus=1, ntfs 3-g, seatbelt.kext 10.5.5install combo upgrade to 10.5.8 , but use "Voodoo 9.5.0" with "system.kext" from 10.5.5
This will install 10.5.5. Go ahead and go through the configuration that comes with the fresh install of OS X. Copy over the kexts listed below, along with KextHelper to your desktop. Then, go to software update (unless you have a different wifi card installed that works, you will have to use ethernet) and download the 10.5.8 combo update. Install it. It should boot up. If not on the first try, try rebooting a few more times. I have found that if it doesn't boot up, that if I boot with -v it will. Make sure to give it plenty of time though. Until all the kexts are installed, it takes a while to boot. If you turn it on after upgrading to 10.5.8, and you get a Kernel Panic saying that "The driver for this platform couldn't be loaded: ACPI" (Not the exact wording but something along those lines), then you should load the iAtkos 5i into the computer (still boot with the extra monitor/paperclip trick and -v -x in boot options) and go through the install process. However, all you should select is the options under the OSx86 Patches, and nothing else. This should resolve it. However, sometimes that has been extremely problematic, and I have had to reinstall.
Using About This Mac compile a list of kexts in use. Gather a copy of each listed kext in a folder called Extensions, fix permissions for the folder. Using Mkext Tool create a Extensions.mkext with gathered kexts from folder. Download and install any 10.5.8 combo update as if it was vanilla, including Apple download source. Do not restart once update is finished. Open /Extra, copy dsdt.aml, com.apple.boot.plist, Extensions folder and Extensions.mkext. RestartUse -f -v options once Chamaleon picks up.
A possible workaround to get resolution other than 1024x768 is running upate-grub from Linux: I multi-boot OSX 10.5.8 with several similar ThinkPads with some of them with native resolutions of 1400x1050 and 1280x800, the default boot by OSX boot loaders fail to boot properly apart from 1024x768 mode. By accident, I installed a Debian distro on them and it let them boot PROPERLY with the above two resolutions under Grub2 even without loading their own display kexts, an X200 is a good example, though YouTube runs smoothly with 360p only as on 1st April, 2015 with no CI and QE turning on. Playing 720p movies downloaded with MPlayer Extended v14 is just fine.
If youve never booted from a CD or DVD on your system, then follow the outlined steps. If you already know how then just skip the next paragraph.Insert the dvd into your dvd drive and shutdown the computer. Then whenever the computer boots up, pay attention to if it says anything about boot sequence or BIOS setup in the first few seconds of booting. For most Dell systems that Ive come across the Boot Sequence option can be reached by hitting F12 at startup. For HP it is usually F2. Other BIOSs might be Del or any of the F keys. Then select your CD/DVD drive, and the computer will boot from it after hitting enter. And now the possible difficulties begin. If you wait a while and let the DVD boot up, it will eventually say something like "Press any key to begin or F8 for options . . ." (I know it isn't exactly that, but it is similar), if you press any key the next screen pops up:Now, if your CD/DVD drive is still spinning at this point and the light is working, than chances are you are perfectly fine, nothing to worry about. But unfortunately with this particular distribution of OSX86, there are some issues with older hardware. You will need to go through a lengthy process in order to get back on the right track to install Leopard. From what I've seen the problem mostly involves NVidia chipsets, but it could be other hardware that causes its malfunction as well. Here is the website that has the patch, you may be able to find instructions as to how it is used as well. (It involves messing with the .iso file that you downloaded earlier, and you will need some basic knowledge of the Windows command line or Linux Terminal)The Patch website: -en/homepage/58-ideneb-v13-1055-nforce-patch.htmlRemember when i said in the materials needed section that you may need 2 blank DVD-R's? It's because if you have this problem you will need to burn the patched .iso to a new disk in order to use it.The link shown above is part of the iDeneb website. If you have further problems with this particular distro, consult that website and the forums at InsanelyMac.(Also, when first booting the DVD at the part where it prompts with "press any key . . ." press F8 and then -v in order to boot in diagnostic mode. This may be useful for troubleshooting)
Olá a amigos do fórum!
Enfim, tentei o iAtkos e o iDeneb 10.5.8.
HAHAHHHAA finalmente!!!!! Consegui fazer funcionar o ideneb no meu netbook!!! Atualizando para o 10.5.8, com efeitos quartz extreme e tal. Uma ajudinha: eu postaria o tutorial aqui mesmo ou em outro tópico? Grato!!!
Thanks for the reply, I was able to do the 10.5.6 update. Downloading 10.5.7 and then I will install 10.5.8. One question, can I upgrade my leopard to snow leopard without making another partition and without moving all of my apps and data off my leopard partition? If not, I guess I can just wait until there is something, but if there is please give me some sort of link that tells me how to do it. 2ff7e9595c
